The Kaunas Beast's snoring can be heard by city people, which may surprise you. All you need to do is listen very carefully... And if you don't hear it, it means the Beast has awoken and gone out to look around his territory... It's no coincidence that he fell asleep beneath Kaunas Castle, the city's oldest structure, which is surrounded by many true and false stories.
We should not forget that old abandoned castles are home not only to ghosts but also to other creatures who guard the treasure. From here, you may see the corner tower of a ruined castle.
A soldier once had a dream that an enchanted princess lived in Kaunas Castle's dungeons. She claimed the soldier could become the country's king if he liberated the princess and followed all her demands. The soldier didn't hesitate and instantly followed the Princess's first order:
"At night, you must appear at the tower of the castle's main gate. You must begin digging as soon as you see the blazing flame. After digging a little, you will come across an iron door guarded by an enchanted wolf. He won't do anything to you; just continue digging. A brass door with a Dire Lion next to it awaits you further on. When you notice him, do not make a sound and continue digging until you discover the silver door. It is protected by the Beast of Kaunas. Knock on the door with the back of your hand to enter the Underworld. In the castle's gleaming hallways, you'll see the enchanted princess shimmering in the sunlight, seated on a golden chair, braiding her silken plaits and singing the saddest songs. You will set her free by solving the puzzle. And once you've captured the princess and her entire army, you'll become the king of the land and be allowed to marry her. The soldier was overjoyed and proceeded to carry out all of the orders in the dream without delay. At the agreed-upon moment, a soldier noticed a fire near the old Kaunas castle. As he neared, he could hear the army's guns clanging and the princess's sad sobbing. The soldier ignored his dread and began digging. At one time, he appeared to reach the iron door, but word of the persistent soldier travelled fast around Kaunas. The Muscovite authorities, frightened by the possible disruption, prevented the soldier from digging in the dungeons and ordered that they be filled with massive stones. The soldier was deported to a faraway, freezing land, and the locals were instructed to forget about the incident. The princess did not appear to anyone again. It has been stated that if you listen carefully, you still hear pitiful lamentations.
After years of oppression, Lithuania rose from the ashes to defend itself against enemies a hundred times stronger than itself. The Kaunas Castle is thought to have been built by Lithuanian giants. Their army would help them regain freedom and independence. After the war, the hauntings stopped, but the giants' spirits remained in the castle. If necessary, they will return to defend their homeland. The castle has stood for centuries and will continue to do so indefinitely.
